Recruiters' Corner
Resume Tips
These are some hints to help you when you are updating your resume:- If your goal, objective or professional summary does not talk about what you can offer to the company, then fix it or take it out.
- The person reading your resume may not be familiar with the companies where you have worked. Write a sentence about each company describing what it does and indicate its size.
- Focus on highlighting your accomplishments under each job. Do not lump all accomplishments together as it can be confusing. Use action verbs and tell how you made money, saved money, and/or improved processes for the companies where you have been employed. Click on the Resume Template for ideas.
- If you have had multiple positions with the same company, state the name of the company, and then list the dates of your entire employment next to it. Below that, where you list the title of each position, put the dates for that position in parentheses. The dates should be in a smaller font size.
- List the degrees that you have received, your major, the university that you attended, and your membership in any honor organizations.
- Always be truthful. Many companies will check previous employment and verify your education. If you are not truthful, you may be terminated.
